Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): Anma Integrated Development Association (Aida) under SBI Foundation Gram Seva Programme organised one-day training on ‘Income generation activities-cum-awareness on women rights” in Tsithrongse village on August 20.
An update from Aida informed that the training was organised with an objective to provide skilling and training to rural communities to ensure better livelihood opportunities and to encourage self-employment by promoting small, cottage and local industries and to achieve gender equality, empower rural women through awareness on advocacy.
The programme began with a brief introduction on IGA training by Pfokho John, project manager, while the practical demonstration on detergent making, dish wash, car wash and hand wash were carried out by Aida staff and interns from St. Joseph University and NEISSR, Dimapur.
The resource person and panel lawyer of Dimapur district legal services authority (DDLSA), Zuchumpeni Ngullie, spoke on protection of women from domestic violence Act 2005 and different types of violence under the act within which included physical violence, verbal or emotional violence, sexual violence and economic violence. She also emphasised on how women are rescued by one stop centre (OSC) and provides shelter.
She further shared about the procedures for filing cases against any domestic violence.
She was accompanied by her husband R Limhathung Ezong, who also addressed the women folk and shared about the schemes for women such as free legal service schemes, mediation, Nagaland victim’s compensation scheme etc. Imnayangla Jamir, convergence officer, welcomed the participants, while Toli I Yeptho, intern from NEISSR moderated the programme.
Altogether, 53 women attended the programme.
