Dimapur, March 9 (EMN): Competitions on drawing, essay writing, quiz, model making, and science exhibition marked the ‘Science awareness on children centric outreach programme’ and ‘Cognitive science on children centric outreach programme,’ organised by Ayolta Human Resource Society (AHRS) from March 7 to the 9th.
An update from the organisation stated that the events were conducted at three schools namely Phom Lempong School, Good Shepherd School and Blooming Buds High School respectively. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The resource persons were Moie, M.Sc (Zoology), B.Ed, and Honlen (Civil).
It stated that AHRS coordinator, Shamla Leinak, has highlighted the objectives of the seminar, which aimed at developing learning skills and interest in Science and creating curiosity among the students through scientific activities. The overall aim of the seminar was to change the mindset and environment of the students to develop interest towards Science .
It stated that Moie gave a brief introduction on the basics of science and engaged the students on science-based activities and motivated them on how learning could be enhanced through the help of practical experiments and experience. She also stressed on environmental issues and performed various activities to create interest in learning Science.
Honlen also spoke on how to keep learning and acquire knowledge and understanding through “Thought experiences’ and ‘senses.’ She also motivated the students to put effort and interest in Science.
Winners of the competitions were awarded with certificates, trophies, and cash prizes. The other participants were also awarded with certificates, consolation cash prizes and gifts respectively.
