ACYA set to celebrate golden jubilee in Sechü-Zubza

SECHÜ-ZUBZA — The Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) is set to celebrate its golden jubilee from January 19 to the 22nd at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) ground in Sechü-Zubza on the theme “March on courageously.”

The jubilee would coincide with the 33rd ACYA convention, which would be hosted by St. Maria Goretti Church, Sechü-Zubza.

Addressing media persons in Kohima on Sunday, the bishop of Kohima diocese, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, challenged the youth to ‘march on courageously’ and urged them to spread their faith with the blessings of the Almighty.

Recalling the Catholic youth movement in Angami areas for evangelisation in Nagaland, Rev. Thoppil highlighted the initiative undertaken by pioneers like Rocus Chasie and Lucas Meyase to spread the gospel. In this regard, he urged the youth to march ahead courageously to proclaim the gospel.

Anticipating a huge gathering of youngsters from all the parishes in Angami areas during the jubilee, he prayed for blessings upon their efforts to live and spread their faith courageously.

Rev. Dr. Sherman Kuek OFS, professor at Christian Institute for Theological Engagement, Malaysia, and ACYA president, Kelhouzasie Lawrence, extended an invitation to all Angami Catholic youth and others to partake in the celebrations.

Distinguished speakers of the four-day event would include Rev. Fr. Neisalhou Carolus Kuotsu, vicar general at Diocese of Kohima; Rev. Fr. Dr. Pezalhoukho George Rino, spiritual director of ACYA; Richard Belho, chairman of Zynorique Initiatives Society; Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina, associate professor at Kohima College Kohima; and Rev. Dr. Sherman Kuek.

Event guests would include Nosazol Charles, advisor and former president of Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN), along with executives from Angami Catholic Union (ACU), Angami Catholic Women Association (ACWA), and Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM).

The main celebrants for the eucharistic celebrations would include Rev. Dr. James Thoppil; Rev. Fr. Joseph Nellisseril, parish priest of St. Maria Goretti, Sechü-Zubza; and Rev. Fr. Thomas Megoriekho, assistant priest of MHC Cathedral, Kohima.

It informed that The Legion of Mary, Kohima Curia, would be the prayer group, while ACYA jubilee choir along with Northern ACYA, Chakhro ACYA, Western ACYA, Southern ACYA and Kohima Town ACYA would present jubilee songs.

The celebration would commence at 1 pm on January 19 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Sechü-Zubza.

On January 21, Naga musicians namely Keneisenuo Sorhie, Mhasheve Tetseo, LC Sekhose and comedian Aseno Ayemi would feature as guest artistes.
