DIMAPUR, JULY 17: Against Corruption And Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has acknowledged the services of the volunteers and picketers, particularly from Phek and Kohima towns, who came out in the streets and expressed their displeasure at the manner in which the government was handling the fuel adulteration.
Stating that fuel adulteration is a multi-crore menace which had destroyed a section of our economy, ACAUT Media Cell said the citizens of Phek, Kohima and Dimapur have aptly led by example.
It said the picketing was just a warm-up call carried out with small band of volunteers. It said thousands of angry and frustrated citizens are itching to get into the streets and it would be just a matter of time before the ACAUT too succumbs to public pressure wherein the government would be solely responsible for any untoward incidents for having kept silent for 16 long days without taking any remedial measure.
Meanwhile, it has lauded the Dimapur police for arresting 4 of the 5 kingpins namely Dinanath, Srikanth, Umesh, and Nawal. ACAUT further said the ‘below-par statement’ of the F&CS Secretary in the newspapers had only added fuel to the fire since he essentially said nothing.
