DIMAPUR — The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Nagaland has questioned whether the forensic science lab in Dimapur is well supervised by competent and qualified officers and has qualified personnel handling the equipment.

In a press note, the party said that the lab is led by a joint director-level officer and is supposedly well-equipped, but questioned how personnel for the various positions in the department are recruited.

It also stated that the staff of such a department should be recruited through the NPSC and asked whether the government is doing so.

The note said that AAP Nagaland believes that in criminal cases where expertise is required, it is handling them well and that they are no longer sent to Guwahati or Kolkata, which costs time and money from the public exchequer.

It stated that it wishes to present these issues to the competent authority because they are relevant in the interest of the public at large, as well as to ensure that the credibility of the institution and the delivery of the results system are communicated to enlighten the citizens of the state at the earliest.
