‘Return of the land, land as gift’ written by a young author Elithung M Kikon is a novella based on current lifestyles that speaks about true love, and woven in drama. Releasing the book on Monday at The Heritage in Kohima town, anti-corruption activist Khekiye K Sema, congratulated the young author on his debut. Sema said that life was about being acceptable ‘in the sight of the Lord, a responsible member of the society and also becoming a creative human being.’ That, Sema said, are a blessing that not everybody experiences.
Khekiye Sema, also the author of a book ‘Encountering life,’ maintained that concentrating and engaging in literary activities was not a simple activity. Creativity takes ‘a little bit of courage, a lot of thinking capabilities but most of all the ability to share the experiences that others would normally not have.’
‘Our life experiences is a book by itself, and how we live all becomes a part of a living experiences and the manner in which we lived through it gets to be a story of our own,’ Sema said and appreciated the author for having the courage to start something. It is the beginning of good things to come, he said, and wished the young writer the best in his future endeavours.
Giving brief insights into the book, Elithung Kikon, said that it depicted the ‘present scenario that is happening within the Naga society through a lover, who believes to have a love stronger than the lion, and a love sweeter than the honey.’
The book also projects ‘the unemployment problem faced by the educated unemployed of the Nagas, and also the arrogant and proud attitude of many educated people refusing to do petty jobs,’ he explained. The book is a must read for every Naga, he asserted.
