The 8th Mega Marathon Manipur, organised by United Peoples Front (UPF), a rights group of Imphal under the aegis of the Athletics Association of Manipur will be held on February 16. The group organise the event annually under the theme Run for Your Nation, Run the Mega Marathon to make Manipur a Healthy Place. In order to have a proper media coverage of the forthcoming 21.5km long historic marathon which will cover parts of Imphal west and east districts, a 15 member media committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Md Najimuddin Khan of UPF. Sobhapati Samom of The Assam Tribune and N Boyai of ISTV were appointed as media committee convenors. Interested runners can submit their participation form on or before February 14.
It may mentioned here that two-time winner Th Sanjit had retained the winner’s title in the men’s open of the 7th Mega Marathon. In the women’s open, L. Premila Devi of SAI retained her title. More than 1,000 people from Manipur, Nagaland, Bihar and Karnataka participated in the last marathon.
