DIMAPUR, MAY 11: THE District Congress Committee of Dimapur agrees with the grievances of citizens who continue to bear the brunt of lack of good roads in the state, especially even in urban Dimapur.
The Dimapur Congress unit issued a note on Wednesday expressing support for the campaign that is to be undertaken by the new group ‘Concerned Citizens of Nagaland.’ On May 14, members of the group and citizens will be protesting the lack of good roads and to highlight the long-needed intervention of accountable-development from the Nagaland government.
“The apparent traffic logjam occasioned in many instances as a result of dilapidated condition of roads across Nagaland and especially the commercial hub of Dimapur, the District Congress Committee Dimapur has decided to express their solidarity with the Concern Citizens of Nagaland to campaign against the deplorable road conditions in Nagaland on May 14,” the Congress unit stated on Wednesday. In support, the Congress has asked its workers to support an initiative of the local citizens and extend all cooperation that could be needed.
“(The) District Congress Committee Dimapur therefore appeals to all party workers of their respective ward/village unit to co-operate with the Concern Citizens of Nagaland by participating in this campaign.”
“For the moment, the campaign will be held at Purana Bazaar and Nagarjan Junction, Dimapur simultaneously from 9 am till 12 noon on the said day. The campaign aims to portray the unbearable grievances and untold hardships faced by the public who commute daily through unmotorable (sic) roads even within city limits,” the group had informed on Monday.
