Mon DTFI meets to address disease prevention

DIMAPUR — Mon District Task Force on Immunisation (DTFI) held a meeting on Wednesday at the DC conference hall in Mon, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma.

Speaking on the occasion, Verma said the meeting was convened to find solutions for preventing diseases and encouraged the formation of a block-level task force for smooth functioning. He also emphasised the need to address challenges at the grassroots level, according to a DIPR report.

He instructed that monthly data be collected from the block, including information on immunisation and other schemes such as ICTC reports. He inquired about the condition of vaccine storage, such as refrigerators and freezers, in the district and also encouraged people to opt for institutional delivery.

Chief Medical Officer of Mon and DTFI member secretary, Dr. Supongmenla Walling, gave a PowerPoint presentation covering data from April to July 2024. The presentation detailed the progress from ANC to fully immunised status, broken down by block within Mon district.

Dr. K Elizabeth K, epidemiologist, gave a PowerPoint presentation on measles-rubella surveillance reports in the district. She highlighted a suspected measles outbreak at Chinglong Village, noting that it is now under control and that all affected individuals have been treated and have recovered.

District Welfare Officer Yanlem informed that the department is providing food supplements to mothers and children.
