DIMAPUR — The Government of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has appealed to all Zeliangrong people residing in Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, and beyond to come together in a concerted effort to commemorate the 93rd martyrdom of the legendary Haipou Jadonang on August 29.

“This day marks a significant milestone in our collective history, a testament to the unwavering dedication and sacrifice of our beloved leader,” it said in a press statement.

Stating that Jadonang’s selfless struggle for the people’s rights and dignity continues to resonate deeply within their hearts, it urged the “brethren” to observe the occasion with the utmost respect and solidarity, honouring the indomitable spirit of Naga Raj, Haipou Jadonang.

To demonstrate unity and reverence, it requested the closure of traditional village gates, centres, and all recognised and private institutions, offices, business establishments, and more across Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland.

It invited the general public to participate in a mass observance of this special day by paying tribute to Haipou Jadonang’s life and legacy through traditional games and sports, celebrating shared heritage and cultural identity, and flagging off and lighting candles at 6 pm in every Zeliangrong household, symbolising the light of unity and hope.

“May his martyrdom inspire us to strive for a brighter future, built on the foundations of peace, justice, and equality,” it read.
