IMPHAL — Many low lying areas, including inter-locality roads in and around Imphal faced waterlogging while several villages under Bishnupur district were submerged by water due to overflowing of nearby streams, following incessant rainfall in the past 24 hours.

Villages like Thinungei, Khoijuman Khullen and Nachou under Bishnupur were inundated due to over-flowing of canals, according to people familiar with the matter.

A bridge connecting Khoijuman Kwasiphai was also damaged.

“The half of the habitation areas of Ningthoukhong also submerged due to the overflow of the Ningthoukhong river (in the morning),” said a resident.
