Elderly health care programme held at Naga United Village
DIMAPUR — A one-day elderly health care programme was organised by the Naga United Village Baptist Church and CNUV Zuvekro, in collaboration with the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), at NUVBC old building, Chümoukedima, on June 8.
In his address during the inaugural programme, Dr. Sedevi Angami, director of CIHSR, stressed on the significance of caring for the elderly in society.
Dr. Sedevi emphasised on regular health screenings from the age of 45 onwards for early detection and correction of physical illnesses, enabling individuals to enjoy different stages of life to the fullest.
His classification of elders into three groups, based on their health status, provided valuable insights for tailored interventions, and his suggestion of forming a care team through the village council or the churches demonstrated a proactive approach to elderly care, it stated.
The health appraisal, supervised by Dr. Sedevi Angami, was conducted by Rokotsino Meyase, Bilashini, Rokosetuo, and Azhosa. The medical team ensured thorough screenings with further recommendations for follow-up check-ups for 82 elderly persons and others with physical complaints.
Earlier, Samuel Therieh shared inspiring Bible passages, emphasising the wisdom and strength found in aging, along with the eternal support of God.
Kuhüsheyi Chotso, pastor of NUVBC, invoked God’s blessing and village council chairman Reyopoyi Nyekha delivered the welcome address.
The organisers expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Sedevi Angami and his team for their unwavering commitment and going the extra mile to extend a helping hand to the village.
The event concluded with a closing prayer by Mr. Cekhüthiyi Vise.
