Awareness programme on MOVCDNER held in Sanis
DIMAPUR — An awareness programme on Mission Organic Value Chain Development for Northeast Region (MOVCDNER) Phase-4 was organised by service provider ‘The Green Caravan’ at Sanis village community hall in Wokha district.
An update from The Green Caravan stated that the programme began with an invocation prayer said by Nchumbemo Kithan, pastor of Sanis Village Baptist Church.
It stated that Manen Ozukum, chief operation manager of The Green Caravan, addressed the farmers and informed them on the benefits of MOVCDNER scheme, formation of the Farmer Producer Company (FPC) under the scheme and elaborated on the success stories of the scheme in its third phase and how the farmers should focus on creating a successful value chain to ensure crop supply and avail market linkage facilities under the ongoing phase 4 of the scheme.
Meanwhile, Ponen Pongener, project associate of The Green Caravan, conducted training on organic farming practices of pineapple and informed them on the organic based fertilisers that are allowed to be used under organic farming.
It added that an installation of Farmer Interest Groups (FIG) was also held for 226 farmers. They were divided into 10 groups of 20 farmers each and 1 group of 26 farmers. Each FIG was given a name and a leader was selected to ensure better functioning, report stated.
The farmers were also made aware on the mandatory use of the Krishi Mapper mobile application which allowed its surveyors to collect documents of the farmers (Aadhaar, phone number, passport etc), geo tagging of the farming area and demarcation of the plot under organic farming practices.
Aremo Lotha, agriculture inspector under SDAO Baghty, also attended the programme.
MOVCDNER review meeting held in Chümoukedima
A review meeting on Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) phase-4 under Chümoukedima district was held at the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) in Chümoukedima on May 27.
The DC and chairman of MOVCDNER district level monitoring committee of Chümoukedima district, Abhinav Shivam, reviewed the activities done by the service provider, in collaboration with the office of the district agriculture officer (DAO) of Chümoukedima. He encouraged the service provider to work competently for the welfare of the farmers in the district, stated an update from the Agriculture department.
He further requested the service provider to complete the assigned duties on time to enable the farmers gain maximum benefit from the scheme.
Earlier, the service provider and team leader of Green Hills Research and Development highlighted the activities of the ongoing MOVCDNER scheme in the district.
The members including the district agriculture officer, Bodevi Shuya, and the sub-divisional agriculture officer, Kevin Solo, were also present at the review meeting.
