Parents urged to listen to children views on career paths
KOHIMA — Emphasising that younger generations are now well-informed about the global trends and opportunities, parents are urged to listen to their children’s views on their education and career paths.
Kethosituo Sekhose, president of Kewhima Gazetted Officers’ Krotho and director of Youth Resources and Sports, said this during the felicitation programme for successful students in various examinations of the Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) held at Kohima village council hall on Friday.
While pointing out that technology world can create generation gap, he told the parents to listen to their children views on the courses and colleges they want to go for further studies because today’s generation seems to have much more knowledge about what is happening around the world and living in a new generation.
He further told the gathering to keep abreast with latest happenings in order to catch up with the rest of the world.
To the successful candidates, he said that the nature of life and careers are ever-changing and the options become narrow as one ages. He urged them to give their best effort while considering the next step.
He also laid emphashised on careful planning and advised them to be thorough of what they want to study and pursue and ensure they choose a broad path. He further advised them not to let the narrow path be their guiding factor but have broad mind and put God first in their life.
Keneirienuo T Zatsu, deputy director of Industries and Commerce, advised the candidates to identify their strength and pursue with determination. She also urged the students to cultivate the virtue of perseverance and contribute to the community.
On the occasion, Kekhriengunuo Solo (HSLC top 20) was conferred Neilhouzhii Kire Award 2023, while the Lhoulienyü Suokhrie Award 2024 was awarded to Neingusanuo Kire for her achievement in Bachelor of Science (Botany) 2023 with a CGPA of 9.11 Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
Neiphrenuo Alemyim Isaac Solo, who got through UPSC CSE 2023 (AIR 749), was also acknowledged with an award during the programme.
KVSU Meritorious Award (Gold medalist 2023) were given to Kevilhoutuo Dennis Sote, Kevisenuo Khezhie, Teisovinuo Khezhie, Gwen Khosangunuo Solo, Nourhevinuo Whuorie, and Neimezhünuo Rutsa. Awards were also presented to 10 successful candidates of Nagaland Staff Selection Board. Besides that, 20 successful NPSC candidates were also awarded.
Kekhriengunuo Solo, Top 20 of HSLC 2024, and Neiphrenuo Alemyin Isaac Solo, UPSC CSE 2023 (AIR 749), delivered messages on the occasion.
Earlier, a special prayer was pronounced for successful candidates of HSLC and HSSLC candidates.
