NCD lauds Nagaland Police for arresting drug trafficker
DIMAPUR — Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has lauded Nagaland Police for arresting a prominent drug trafficker identified as Md. Hassan Uddin, a resident of Dimapur, along with Arunachal Police and West Bengal Police counterparts from Arunachal Pradesh.
It mentioned that Nagaland Police had recently arrested a major narcotic drug trafficker namely Bahar Uddin, also resident of Dimapur.
NCD stated that it has been vigilant about report of free availability and uses of illicit narcotic drugs, especially among the youth and even among the school and college going students in Dimapur. It added that NCD has been appealing time and again in social media to the users and drug cartels/ peddlers to say ‘no’ to drugs.
It recalled the joint consultative meeting of all the tribal hohos and community leaders and CSOs based in Dimapur held on November 30, 2022 at Tourist Lodge, wherein it was unanimously resolved to check their respective members from including in any illicit business including narcotic drugs and liquor, multiple taxation, coercive extortion/ donations, syndicate system in Dimapur.
NCD stated that besides maintaining law and order in the state, Nagaland Police has formulated holistic strategies to contain and eradicate drug trafficking in the state for safety and well-being of the youths at large. It added that Nagaland Police under the Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma, has been implementing the strategies effectively in spirit and principle as evident with the arrest of two professional drug traffickers operating in the state and northeast region.
It has appreciated Robin Sharma and the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, for apprehending the drug peddlers with their concerted efforts and supervision.
NCD further appealed to all the leaders of different communities in Dimapur to remind their members of the earlier resolutions and make Dimapur a better place to live in. NCD also appreciated the Muslim Council Dimapur for initiating necessary action against Bahar Uddin.
