DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to operate two pairs of special trains from Guwahati to meet the escalating demand of passengers during the summer rush.
One special train will operate between Guwahati and Sambalpur in Odisha and the other will operate between Guwahati and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Jammu and Kashmir.
Both of these trains will operate for 10 trips each in both directions. Both the special trains will consist of AC 3-tier, sleeper class and general seating coaches for the convenience of passengers, the NFR stated in an update.
Accordingly, train no. 08351 (Sambalpur – Guwahati) Special will depart from Sambalpur at 18:50 hours every Monday from April 22 until June 24, to reach Guwahati at 01:20 hours on Wednesday.
In the return direction, train no. 08352 (Guwahati–Sambalpur) Special will depart from Guwahati at 08:00 hours every Wednesday from April 24 until June 26 to reach Sambalpur at 16:15 hours the next day.
During its two-ways journey, the special train will run via Kamakhya, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar Jn., New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Malda town, Bhattanagar, Kharagpur, Balasore, Kapilas Road, Angul, Kerejanga, etc.
Also, train no. 04680 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Guwahati) Special will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 21:30 hours every Friday from April 26 until June 28, to reach Guwahati at 19:10 hours on Sunday.
In the return direction, train no. 04679 (Guwahati–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra) Special will depart from Guwahati at 23:20 hours every Monday from April 29 until July 1, to reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 20:45 hours on Wednesday. During its both-ways journey, the special train will run via Kamakhya, Goalpara Town, New Bongaigaon, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Katihar, Barauni, Hajipur, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Bareilly, Saharanpur, Ambala Cantt., Ludhiana, Pathankot Cantt., and Jammu Tawi.
Another special train no. 06221/06222 (Mysuru–Muzaffarpur–Mysuru) is in operation between Mysuru and Muzaffarpur for eight trips each on every Monday from Mysuru (with effect from April 15) and on every Thursday from Muzaffarpur (with effect from April 18). During its two-way journey, the train will have stops at Jolarpettai, Vijaywada Jn., Palasa, Malda Town, Kumedpur, Katihar, Barauni Jn., etc.
The details of the stoppages and timings of these trains are available on the IRCTC website and are also being notified in various newspapers and social media platforms of the NFR. Passengers have been requested to verify the details before undertaking their journey.
