KOHIMA — Believers from various parts of the capital city gathered at The Heritage for the annual Resurrection Sunrise service organised by the Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF) in Kohima.

President of KBPF Rev. Vezopa Rhakho, delivered a message emphasising the significance of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, stating that it has given Christians a new meaning of life.

Quoting the Scripture, “He is not here, for He is risen,” he said that the passage is the core of the gospel which has spread across the world as it gives hope to the Christians to look beyond the mortal life.

Rev. Rhakho asserted that the message of resurrection has empowered the believers to live a victorious life in Jesus Christ.

He maintained that the resurrection is not merely a philosophical rebirth or renaissance of Christ’s ideas and teachings but that he was literally raised from death as the power of God has reconnected Jesus’ spirit with his dead body and he arose.

Affirming that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the very foundation of Christian faith, he added that without the risen Lord, there is no Christianity.

While urging the gathering to share the good news, the senior pastor also advised Christians to live a life embodying Christ-likeness and to uphold victory in spiritual warfare.

Further, Rev. Rhakho urged the believers to put their faith in Jesus Christ alone and draw closer to Him as He gives salvation to all.

Earlier, State Chaplain, Rev. J W Yamyap Konyak, who delivered the resurrection greetings, said the celebration is about the empty tomb, because of which the Church exist as Jesus Christ has risen from death.

Expressing displeasure over the Assam Legislative Assembly passing the Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024, which labelled “healing as magic and evil” the chaplain clarified that Christians do not believe in magic or healing is a magic.

Rev. Konyak called upon the believers to pray for the neighbouring state governments to let God intervene like that of Paul’s transformation from his earlier life as Saul.

He also urged the participants to pray for the prosecuted across the world.

On the occasion, Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA) and Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church Kohima presented choral songs.

The programme was led by Rev. Thsadongse Sangtam, pastor of Sangtam Baptist Church, while the Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachu, pastor of Khedi Baptist Church and Jenthailung Kamei, pastor of Rongmei Baptist Church, read out from the Bible, respectively.

Rev. Benry Lotha, Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church, pronounced the benediction.
