DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Minority Affairs has allocated INR 172.108 crore to Nagaland for the development of multidisciplinary sports complex and women entrepreneurship facilitation centres on March 16.

As per a statement issued by the ministry, the approved complex would aid not only in the development of much-needed sports infrastructure but also stimulate economic growth by acting as a possible medium for organising sports or other recreational events in the state.

The statement noted that the sports complex, being a community asset, would benefit approximately 19.8 lakh, of which 91% belong to minorities. The entrepreneurship centres would benefit 3.25 lakh women, comprising 3.16 lakh minority women.

According to the ministry, the women entrepreneurship facilitation centre would boost the courage of women entrepreneurs in the state, in addition to generating market linkages and market facilitation for them.

The ministry, acknowledging the importance of inclusive and holistic infrastructure, mentioned that the sports complex and the entrepreneurship centres have been sanctioned as a bridging step to aid in national development.
