Imna Along calls on Manipur Governor; underscores need to restore peace
IMPHAL — Nagaland Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Thursday and discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the ongoing ethnic conflict and restoration of peace in Manipur.
The minister expressed the need to restore mutual understanding and trust among the two warring communities – Meiteis and Kuki-Zo – in order to create a conducive atmosphere for talks.
While lauding the governor for her effort in restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur, Along said more need to be done on humanitarian aspects by looking into the welfare of those taking shelter in relief camps.
The governor, while welcoming the minister, said that the only way to solve the ongoing impasse is by bridging the trust deficit between the two communities and initiating dialogue. She added that the Centre and state governments have been trying to set a viable environment for the communities to sit together and solve all the impending issues.
In another development, Deputy General Manager of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Bending Aier along with two other managers called on the governor, requesting her to release State Focus paper 2024-25.
The team also highlighted the initiatives taken up by the bank for the welfare of people, especially the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have been staying in different relief camps in the state.
