IMPHAL — To mark the completion of one year of Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey, a programme was held on Thursday at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
During the function, the governor along with her secretary, Bobby Waikhom, released a coffee table book title “Mere Abinav Prayas” (My innovative efforts).
On the occasion, the governor also distributed certificates of appreciation to seven CRPF personnel posted at Raj Bhavan and two drivers, one each from Raj Bhavan and Police department in recognition of their commendable service.
The Under Secretary to the Governor, M Meena Devi, highlighted about the various developmental initiatives taken up by the governor for the welfare of the people of the state and Raj Bhavan.
Raj Bhavan has been extending support to the violence affected people both in the hills and valley. Relief materials have been distributed and monetary support was being extended to pregnant women, patients with serious ailments and children in the camps.
Addressing the gathering, Anusuiya Uikey thanked the officers, staff and security personnel for their co-operation and support extended to her in discharging duties for the welfare of the people of the state. She stated that many developmental initiatives have been taken up at Raj Bhavan since she took over the office.
Expressing serious concern over the situation in the state, she stated that efforts are being put in by the centre and the state continuously to contain violence and to restore peace. She continued that with the support of local populace especially CSOs, women and students leaders, complete peace could be restored in the state.
Informing that she is in touch with the central leaders, the governor expressed hope that peace would prevail in the state soon.
The governor appealed to the people to extend support to the government in the process of restoring of peace and harmony in the state. Stating that Raj Bhavan is always open to the common people, she has assured to carry out her duties responsibly as the governor of the state.
