Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024: Chümoukedima wins gold in football
DIMAPUR — In an intense Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG) 2024 football final played at Nagaland Police Training School (NPTS) Ground on Wednesday, Chümoukedima and Peren played out a 3-3 draw in regulation time before Chümoukedima emerged victorious 3-1 in penalties to clinch the gold medal.
In the match played for the third spot on the same day, Phek defeated Dimapur 2-1 to win the bronze medal, according to an update.
The final match was witnessed by Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries and Commerce, as the chief guest, while Abu Metha, Secretary General of the Nagaland Olympic Association, presented the medals.
In lawn tennis, Thejaser from Mokokchung won the men’s singles gold medal, defeating Kepevilie from Chümoukedima in the final. Azhazo (Wokha) and Megotsolie (Noklak) won the bronze medals.
In doubles, the pair of Thejaser and Zhaputso from Mokokchung won gold, while the silver went to Megotsolie and Varuni from Noklak. The bronze was awarded to Kevisier Kevingu (Phek) and Kepevilie Mhasilhoutuo (Chümoukedima).
Mokokchung’s Thejaser and Zhaputso also won the men’s team event gold medal. Chümoukedima’s Mhalevilie Mhasilhoutuo and Kepevilie took silver, while Azhazo Nousi (Wokha) and Arito Menuovi (Niuland) claimed bronze.
