Nagaland CM inspects Konyak Heritage and Mon Medical College sites

KOHIMA — Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday inspected two ongoing projects in Mon district — Konyak Heritage Complex and Mon Medical College – to oversee its progress.

The chief minister took to X (formerly Twitter) to share about his visit to the project sites.

‘Inspected the ongoing work at the Konyak Heritage site and Mon Medical College site, along with P. Paiwang Konyak, Health Minister of Nagaland,’ he wrote.

“The State Government is committed to further development in the district,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, told Eastern Mirror that the chief minister was also accompanied by CL John, Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, and other officials besides the health minister, during the inspection of the sites.

Highlighting the significance of the heritage complex, he said it can play a vital role in fostering cultural convergence and becoming a central venue for events upon completion.

Regarding the medical college, the DC said that its completion will open doors for students aspiring to pursue higher education in medical studies.

Meanwhile, a reliable source familiar with the Konyak Heritage complex, told this newspaper that the construction work of the facility, which was initiated by the chief minister last year, is expected to be completed in about a year.

Efforts are underway to make certain portions of the Konyak Heritage complex usable by the end of February for celebrating the Aoleang festival, added the source.
