Assam Rifles provides skill centre in Niuland with machines
DIMAPUR — Under its civic action programme for the fiscal year 2023–24, the Assam Rifles procured and handed over sewing machines and handloom machines towards the establishment of Ato Area Women Skill Development Centre at the community hall of Nihokhu village in Niuland district.
According to a press release, Maj. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), handed over the equipment to village authorities on December 19 in an event attended by 400 villagers.
In his address on the occasion, Lakhera emphasised the role of women in taking any community forward, which, according to him, is only possible if women are self-sufficient and skilled.
The statement said that the centre has been equipped with four handloom machines and five sewing machines, aiming to offer self-employment opportunities for local women by providing the necessary skill set and required equipment.
