Longleng Town Council organises carol singing competition
DIMAPUR — The Longleng Town Council (LTC), under the aegis of ADC Longleng and Administrator of LTC, Alongdhimen Jamir, organised a carol singing competition on December 14 at Longleng town to cultivate a sense of community and celebrate the true spirit of Christmas, fostering unity and solidarity.
According to a DIPR report, in his welcoming address, Jamir emphasised the vision to promote community spirit and the importance of participation over winning.
DC Longleng Dharam Raj, the event’s special guest, extending greetings, stressed the importance of community involvement, commending all participants for showcasing their musical talents on such a joyous occasion.
The competition featured 14 carol groups from various wards and churches, with the Medical Ward coming in first place, earning a cash prize of INR 10,000 and a citation. Shauli Ward and Police Church, Longleng, finished second and third, earning cash prizes of INR. 7,000 and INR 5,000, respectively, along with citations. SP Longleng, Yanger Jamir, sponsored the consolation prizes of INR 2,000 for each of the remaining participants.
Rev. Fr. Alex Vizo, Parish Priest of St. Joseph Church, invoked God’s blessings during the event, which was chaired by Enyuh Phom.
Tenhau, Associate Pastor of Longleng Town Baptist Church, Onghsong, retired teacher, and Chingmei Shukshuha, proprietor of Native Music School, Longleng, comprised the judging panel.
