DIMAPUR — In an effort to connect with the electorate of the 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency (A/C), MLA and Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, embarked on a tour encompassing all villages and units under his constituency.

According to a press release, he was accompanied by a number of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) leaders from the state, Mokokchung region, 29 Jangpetkong A/C, as well as representatives of Changki Village Council and others.

This tour was a continuation of the mega sensitisation programme for various government schemes held on November 29 at Changki village. After a brief hiatus due to the Hornbill Festival, the tour resumed on December 15 and concluded on Saturday, December 16.

Temjenmenba thanked the electorate and villages in the constituency for electing him as the representative during a public meeting and invited the people to join him in the collective effort to bring development to the constituency. He reiterated his campaign slogan of ‘bringing and working for development in a mission mode’.

Expressing that there are still four more years ahead to work together towards achieving their development aspirations, he called for unity among the people, emphasising the need for developmental efforts to reach every nook and corner of the constituency.

Temjenmenba lamented that the 29 Jangpetkong A/C, despite the presence of politicians, academics, athletes, and others, has been reduced to a people of followers rather than leaders. Therefore, he asked the people to give him advice and to support one another in the collective effort to bring some semblance of development to the constituency.

During the tour, the advisor also handed over completed Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) cards to village councils to be distributed to beneficiaries who were recently registered during the beneficiary identification drive (BIS) sponsored by him and conducted by the NDPP 29 Jangpetkong A/C.

Meanwhile, the Working President of NDPP, N Bendang Jamir, congratulated the constituency for electing Temjenmenba and asserted that he is much admired and appreciated in the state for his leadership qualities. He claimed that the transport department, which was neglected for a long time, has now become one of the most vibrant departments, serving people all over the state.

He highlighted Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s initiative to conduct a yearly review of all the NDPP MLAs and constituencies from now on. In this regard, Jamir said that a six-member committee has been formed at the party level, and a committee has also been established from among the legislators to conduct this yearly review. This review will determine who gets the party ticket during the next election.

Jamir praised Temjenmenba and the party’s rank and file in the constituency for carrying out various programmes and encouraged everyone to keep up the good work and do even better in the coming years.

The NDPP Mokokchung region President, Mayangnungba, who also spoke at the programme, emphasised that the party is a regional one with a national outlook. He noted that in 2018, due to an alliance between the NDPP and the BJP, the constituency was shared with and given to the BJP. However, it has now been awarded the NDPP ticket, and a dynamic leader in the person of Temjenmenba was elected.

He mentioned that Temjenmenba is taking significant steps within a short period, such as the sensitisation programme and the registration of beneficiaries for the CMHIS, among other initiatives. According to him, these actions are in line with the party motto of ‘deeds, not words’.

Purtoshi, President of Jangpetkong Senso Mungdang (JSM), in his speech urged the party and the elected legislator to work tirelessly for the development of the Jangpetkong range. He lauded the work done and expressed hope that the development work would continue in the constituency.

Aodangnok, President of 29 Jangpetkong A/C, and Pangerzulu, Treasurer of the NDPP Mokokchung region, also spoke at the event. Alongkima, Waromung, Dibuia, Mongchen, Chungliyimsen, and Khar villages were visited during the two-day tour.
