DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District GB Association (DDGBA) has announced a temporary relocation plan for open-street vendors, effective December 4, until the festive season is over.

Vendors operating within the market areas are directed to shift their operations to Hazi Park, Hong Kong Market, and Super Market during this festive season, according to a press release.

It mentioned that the system was initiated in consultation with the district administration, Dimapur Municipal Council, and law-enforcing agencies for the convenience of the general public.

The release stated that it was done to allow festive shoppers (pedestrians) to move freely on the footpaths, which are occupied by street vendors everywhere in and around the market areas, as well as to ease the flow of vehicle movement and create more parking space in the market areas.

It reasoned that it will provide an avenue for shoppers to easily access various commodities in specific locations during peak festive hours and that it will be a great relief for traffic congestion and ease the burden on traffic police in monitoring vehicle flow in Dimapur city.
