DIMAPUR — Advisor of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, A Panjung Jamir, attended the ‘Global Fisheries Conference India 2023’ at Gujarat Science City in Ahmedabad on November 21 and 22.

A DIPR report stated that the advisor also participated in the international round table, which was attended by representatives from different countries including ambassadors.

Addressing the members during the international round table, the advisor highlighted that Nagaland, being a hilly state with beautiful rivers, is blessed with ornamental and cold-water fisheries sector. With new species of fishes still being discovered in the rivers in Nagaland, the advisor suggested the needs for further research and investment to identify more ornamental fishes.

With the abundance of cold water fishes such as mahseers, the advisor has sought further investment to boost the production of cold water fishes.

Report stated that the round table meeting concluded with an assurance to further look into the investment venture in the state.

The advisor was accompanied by the deputy director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Dr. Rongsenkumzuk.
