Karnataka rout Nagaland in one-sided Syed Mushtaq Ali match
DIMAPUR — Nagaland was trounced by Karnataka by nine wickets in Nagaland’s fifth match of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023, played on Monday at Maharana Pratap College Ground, Dehradun.
According to an update, Nagaland were pushed right to the brink after being sent in to bat first after losing the toss, as the bowlers of Karnataka troubled the batters and picked up regular wickets at intervals, limiting Nagaland to just 68 runs on the board.
Only Hokaito Zhimomi (17 runs) and Jaganath Sinivas (11 runs) could reach double figures as the Karnataka bowlers wreaked havoc on their batting order.
Karnataka achieved their target of 69 runs in 7.5 overs, with contributions from Devdutt Padikkal (31 runs), Mayank Agarwal (19 runs), and KL Shrijith (8 runs).
A consolation for Nagaland was provided by Honpongkyu Sangtam when he caught and bowled Mayank Agarwal.
Nagaland will face Tamil Nadu, another cricket powerhouse in the country, on October 27 at 11 a.m. at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, Dehradun, which will be live telecast and available on all Jio applications and the Sports 18 channel.
