NSF Trophy: New Market FC clinches semi-final berth
KOHIMA —In a thrilling quarter-final clash on Thursday at the 23rd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy underway at the IG Stadium in Kohima, New Market FC showcased their prowess and secured a spot in the semi-finals.
The defending champions proved their mettle with a convincing 2-0 victory over A Yhome FC in the tournament’s first night match.
The breakthrough moment for New Market FC arrived in the 51st minute when Petevizo Kezieo (11) skillfully found the back of the net, giving his team the lead.
Building on their momentum, Khiuwangbo Kaurintah extended their advantage in the 67th minute, sealing the victory for New Market FC.
Khiuwangbo Kaurintah of New Market FC was named player of the match.
Khrielievi Chusi, the former general secretary of the Angami Students’ Union and former president of the Angami Youth Organisation, who also served as the match’s patron, presented Kaurintah with the award.
The action continues on October 6 at 5 pm., when End of an Era takes on Liangmai FC.
