Kitsubozou celebrates 53rd Panchayat Day

KOHIMA — Kitsubozou Panchayat in Kohima celebrated its 53rd Panchayat Day on Monday at its panchayat hall.

On the occasion, Medochülie Khezhie, GB of Kitsubozou Panchayat, extended greetings, and recalled how the panchayat has been consistently working for the welfare of the citizens since its formation way back in 1970

He expressed delight that together with the panchayat leaders, women and youth have been working in cohesion for progress and maintaining peace and tranquillity.

He exhorted the newly elected panchayat team to work with dedication and commitment, stating that the panchayat has been playing a prominent role at all levels to march ahead with the rest of the wards in Kohima.

The general secretary’s report was presented by Aziebu Stephen Theyo, the treasurer’s report by Neilie Sachü and the sanitation report by Neingusazo Mechülho, sanitation secretary.

The programme was led by Sarhünyi Shupao, finance secretary.

A new team of the panchayat was also elected for the tenure 2024-26. The team is led by Dzieseneilie Sachu as chairman, Visakholie Zatsu as vice-chairman and Atoulie Pienyu as general secretary.

The chairman elect, Dzieseneilie Sachu, expressed gratitude to the denizens for the new responsibility and hailed the outgoing team for shouldering the leadership of the panchayat.

He sought for unity, understanding and cooperation to work as a team for progress and development.

It may be mentioned that Kitsubozou Panchayat was awarded the cleanest ward under the Kohima Municipal Council in 2021, and also stood in second position in 2020.
