Naga Mothers’ Association condemns violence against women, children
DIMAPUR — The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has condemned the recent incidents of atrocities against women and children in Nagaland and Gujarat.
In a press release, the association urged the law enforcement agencies to take a stern action against one Benjamin Terieng, the accused in the “rape and brutal violence” of a woman in Ngwalwa village, Peren district, on September 7, as per the law.
The NMA also condemned the “child molestation” incident at Holy Angel’s School, Tuensang, by the headmaster of the school, VJ Jose, on September 19, and demanded that action against him as per the POCSO Act.
‘We demand that all schools and colleges set up Sexual Harassment Committee to initiate legal action on cases of harassment and sexual violence in their institutions, which is on the rise, and such cases being covered up by school authorities without legal action is highly questionable and (it) allows the predator to roam freely and repeat offences on other children and young students,’ read the press release.
The association further condemned the violence against a Naga woman in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on the night of September 25, by the owner of Galaxy Spa identified as Mohsin.
“The viral video is shocking and severest action must be taken against the proprietor of the spa and action be taken based on the FIR filed. There can be no justification for any kind of violence that threatens the security and life of a woman or child,” said the NMA.
