Nagaland Police encourages reporting of frauds through helpline number 1930
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Police has informed the public that the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, has instituted a helpline number 1930 to enable the public to report financial frauds and facilitate prompt freezing of fraudsters’ accounts.
A DIPR report stated that if reported early to 1930, the chances of recovering the lost amount are high and that to date, a total of 241 complaints have been reported to 1930.
According to records, 74 complaints have been registered in cybercrime.gov.in’s National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), but complainants are not completing the process.
The Nagaland Police has reminded citizens that, upon calling 1930, they will get an SMS link to the NCRP portal on their registered phone number. If the complainant does not register their complaint in the NCRP portal within 24 hours, their complaint will not be registered in NCRP.
The registration of complaints on the NCRP portal enables the police department to take further legal action in the matter and facilitates the process of refunding the amounts to the victim.
It has been noticed that the public and victims are reluctant to come forward for the registration of an FIR, and they have been requested to cooperate with the investigating agency to register and investigate cases.
For any financial fraud, citizens can call 1930 to register their complaints, and for any other cybercrimes, citizens can log in to cybercrime.gov.in to register their complaints.
