DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has demanded the ‘Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for PMGSY-III batch-1 2023-2024’ be kept in abeyance till anomalies are rectified.

In a letter to the chief engineer, Road and Bridges (PWD), the union claimed that tender notices were invited project-wise in the past, citing 19 firms being awarded work orders for 19 packages in 2017 and 13 packages awarded to 13 firms in 2019 as per the merit of bidding.

It demanded breaking up the projects and segregating district-wise, “as most of the districts have been clustered with another district”.

Claiming that in the past, firms faced completing one project on time, it asked how a single company can complete 4-5 projects as per the scheduled time. It added the PMGSY programme will be a total failure if multiple projects are awarded to a firm.

A representation was submitted to the chief minister in July to allot one work order to one firm against 40 packages of PMGSY Phase-III but the concerned department invited tender for the projects by clubbing them into only 16 packages, it stated.

This, the NCSU said, undermines its representation, “thereby trying to deprive many aggrieved qualified contractors”.
