DIPHU — The Department of School Education under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) organised district level Teacher’s Day celebration in giving recognition to the selfless dedication of teachers in imparting education to children at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall in Diphu on Tuesday.
Students of government and private schools and colleges students arranged a special programme to honour the teachers.
During the celebration, teachers from 170 schools both Lower Primary, ME and high school section securing A+ grade in last Gunotsav in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong were felicitated for the success.
Five retired teachers were also felicitated for rendering their service towards education.
Executive Member (EM), KAAC, Education, Richard Tokbi in his speech acknowledged the service rendered by teachers in imparting education to children.
He said, ‘on this day, as we commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, I express my sincere gratitude to the teachers for the invaluable contributions. Teachers are the architects of our future. They play a significant role in shaping the life of the future of the children’.
The EM also said that teaching is not just a job and that teachers are not only educators but they are mentors and role models where students learn.
Diphu MLA Bidyasing Engleng in his speech stressed on the need to give more importance to the development of own mother tongue.
