Beti Bachao Beti Padhao launched in Noklak

DIMAPUR — Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Noklak was officially launched on September 2 at the DC office complex, Noklak, in the presence of officials from various departments, civil society organisations, students, and teachers.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Noklak Arikumba emphasised the BBBP objectives, which include improving the child sex ratio, promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, eliminating gender-biased practices, ensuring the survival and protection of the girl child, and encouraging girls’ education and participation in all aspects of life.

He urged all stakeholders to lend their full cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme.

On the occasion, SDO (Civil) Vikhoto Richa highlighted the district’s BBBP action plan, which primarily focuses on raising awareness, promoting girls’ education, empowering women through skill development, improving healthcare access, and sensitisation.

He also announced the establishment of the Late Supou Memorial Award under BBBP Noklak for meritorious achievers. This annual award will honour outstanding girl students in Class 10 and Class 12 in the district.

Representatives from various line departments, including Dr. Chongnya, medical officer at District Hospital Noklak, and Bendangsunep, CDPO Noklak, gave speeches outlining the various schemes implemented by their respective departments to support women and girls. Chongkoi, president of Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam, and Songmao, archery coach and district SVEEP icon, addressed and motivated the participants during the programme
