NEISSR’s 9th Freshers’ Meet 2023 encourages students to ‘Unleash Your Potential.’
DIMAPUR— The Students’ Council for Social Change, a student body of the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), organised the college’s 9th freshers’ meet, 2023, at the college premises in Chümoukedima for the newly enrolled students, with the theme ‘unleash your potential’.
The chief guest for the occasion, Dr. Timothy Langwangbe, principal of Norman Putsure College, Chümoukedima, encouraged students to explore career options at a young age.
He said that it is important to have a focused mind in order to set and reach a goal and that having a prioritised mind helps to unlock the potential for a successful career. He also emphasised the need for and significance of social scientists in society, as well as how social workers can be an effective force in addressing societal issues.
In his welcome address, NEISSR principal Dr. Rev. CP Anto encouraged the newly inducted students to take advantage of the opportunities available in the institution to further their development.
He encouraged students to live purpose-driven life with a passion to guide their aspirations. Commenting on the changes in society, he noted the importance of using a strength-based approach when dealing with students, some of whom enter higher education with great difficulty and challenges.
It is high time to explore and unearth youths’ potential and resilience nature for nation building, he said, adding that at NEISSR, the best possible academic environment is directed towards the infusion of humane aspects, and skill development in line with technology application.
He thanked parents for choosing the institution and promised that the institution would do its best to shape the futures of its students.
According to a press release by NEISSR, Suthomong and Naomi, both from MSW 1st semester, were crowned Mr. and Ms. Freshers during the event.
