Having received complaints on involvement of some church members, who are currently holding office, indulging in partisan politics thereby violating both the election code of conduct and CCEM guidelines during the last general election, the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has directed such persons to voluntarily resign from their ministerial responsibility before the church initiate inquiry.

CBCC has issued this directive in reaffirmation to its earlier letter dated February 24, which was served to maintain the sanctity of the church office.

In a letter to the pastors, pastoral staff, deacons and all designated church workers, CBCC has reminded them of the Baptist polity on the separation of church and state, church workers, whether pastor or deacon, or anyone who holds the sacred office of the church.

“Therefore, those of you who have deliberately involved in such restricted activity by the church, we sincerely appeal you to voluntarily resign from your ministerial responsibility in the church before the church initiates inquiry on your involvement,” stated an update from CBCC executive secretary, Chekrovei Cho-o,

CBCC president, Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, and CCEM chairman, Rev. Vezopa Rhakho.

It stated that in doing so, they will be doing a favor to the church and find a way forward for forgiveness from the gracious Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

“We can hide from people but not from God, and the church has to please God than please man/woman. Hence, this opportunity of self-surrender and repentance has been offered to the erring persons holding the office of the church,” it added.
