Excise department on Tuesday destroyed seized liquor and drugs worth INR 2.30 crore at the Excise Directorate Complex, Dimapur, in presence of duly constituted liquor/drugs destruction boards.
The destroyed items were seizures made by the three enforcement wings based in Dimapur namely district excise, mobile squad and narcotic cell, during the period December 2022 to February 2023, the department stated in an update.
The destroyed liquor/drugs included IMFL (58,647 assorted bottles), beer (22143 assorted bottles/ cans), wine/vodka/breezer (1447 assorted bottles) and codeine-based cough syrup (459 bottles)
During the above period, an amount of INR 6 lakh was deposited as revenue realised from case compounding.
During the destruction programme, the commissioner of Excise, H Atokhe Aye, has lauded the Excise enforcement personnel for the huge seizures made in the past few months, especially during the holiday season and the State General Assembly Election 2023.
