Maintaining the flame of a clean election, the Alempang Baptist Arogo, Alempang Ward Authority, Alempang Women Organisation, and Alempang Youth Association jointly convened a common declaration of candidatures for the 24 Angetyongpang AC seat at Grace Garden in Mokokchung on Wednesday.

Numerous people from different walks of life including students attended the joint declaration where Moangkaba Ozukum of the NPP, K Wati Independent, and Tongpang Ozukum of the NDPP spoke to the electorates.

Moangkaba Ozukum went first and said that he stands for youth, the voice of the people, and would adopt transparency and openness in public fund utilisation.

To enable a comprehensive development of the constituency, he said, “My concerned vision is to provide ample support for the youths preparing to crack competitive examinations, avenues for the youth who are skilled but unemployed and upliftment of women, besides, holistic development for the constituency,”

Saying that the 24 Angetyongpang A/C is a diverse constituency, if elected, he said he would carry out various activities and programmes in consultation with the public.

The independent candidate K Wati stated that youth empowerment and connectivity would be his main areas of attention. In terms of connection, he said that the constituency still lags behind in terms of road connectivity and that development in this area would greatly boost the constituency’s economic activities.

Regarding youth empowerment, he stressed the prospects for multi-skills training to the youths for a sustainable livelihood.

He made a plea to the electorates, saying, “If elected, the facilities designated for you won’t be diverted to other places or encroached upon.”

NDPP candidate Tongpang Ozukum also outlined his goals and objectives for the constituency he would initiate if granted the chance to represent for a second term.

The plans included opening hostel for the competitive exams aspirants to take coaching and interview mock drills; plans for initiating seed money to promote entrepreneurs and facilitate them in Chief Minister Micro Financial Initiative, setting up Angetyongpang Development Board and Welfare Board for equal focus and development, besides, implementation of handicraft and small skill industries for the youths, women and various groups, he said.

“I have performed with best of my abilities but would admit that there are still 80 percent works that need to be completed and all these plans can be realised through unity,” he said while appealing to electorates to give him the privilege to serve the people for the second term.

Later, Rev. Dr. Temsu S Pastor of the Alempang Baptist Church offered a special prayer for the candidates of 24 Angetyongpang AC while Lemashia Chairman Alempang Ward read out the rules to be observed for a fair and free election.
