In Appreciation…….. of the simple pleasures of life…

Hello folks,

I believe that life has so much to give if only we cared to give a little thought to the most minuscule of joys (which we’d find so much of) only if we’d stop looking at the looming discomforts and discontents.
So here I am, to share with you the simplest joys in my life as I have experienced some time in my life and those that I take as I face each day, at a time.

‘Ole faithfuls…

The eye is window to the soul. Looking into the eyes of Man’s best friend you will find a Soul of Pure Solid Gold. Solid because once the connect hits off it doesn’t ever bend, alter or distort, not even under the harshest of circumstances.
Not up until now, have I faced a single phase of my life outside the realm of the world of dogs. To have spent a greater part of it beginning at a tender age with no less than twelve canines all together in proximity and under one roof, could consolidate and establish my familiarity ,understanding and appreciation of them better.One of my earliest instants of esteem for the canine species grew when the pack leader of the twelve dogs we had, keenly took under her wing, without external prompt or urging, a fawn which had been brought to my Mother. I’d watch spell bound as she’d carry out her motherly baby- sitting duties of cleaning and grooming her new found thrill with utmost care.
This incident then led me to the understanding that dogs were adept at giving affection warmth and care. However, as years passed by did I become further aware of the fact that this was what our sensitive wet- nosed, expressive-eyed friend was wired with and would most eagerly bestow for as much and for as long as you needed it. They’d never tire of it or only selectively dole out depending on their good mood days leaving it out on bad mood days.
It’s your sensitive dog friend who senses what’s going on even before anyone ever will or can. It’s a dog that expresses extreme happiness at the sound of your footsteps outside the door or even at the gate. It’s a dog who will be ready with a genuine smile in his eyes the minute you enter the room even if you may have stepped out just for a few minutes. It’s the faithful friend in a dog who will sit at your feet even after you have given it a mouthful of a bashing. He will NEVER hold it against you.
Your closest soul mate could be the dog, who will sit beside you without a word or question but perhaps a gentle nudge of its wet nose to let you know he’s there beside you no matter what.
When you’re at your lowest, distressed and broken, your best buddy will be the shoulder to lean on however tiny because he will snuggle up to you and lick away the tears you cry saying ‘I understand’ There’s no what, why, or how with this pal. He takes you just as you are good bad and ugly.
Though a dog cannot speak out to tell you so much that he may want to, God has blessed this beautiful creation of his with eyes that say it all and more. May be he wants to tell you all that he carries in his heart for you. So for all that he has been to you, do spend a few minutes to look into his eyes and understand his heart. Believe me you will find a moment of gladness to last you a lifetime.
Today I write today in memory of two of my closest dog friends, Chi Chi and Golly who have made a dent in my heart. I thank them for making me the more compassionate human being I recognise myself to have become with them.
