International Day for differently-able Persons observed in Manipur

Imphal, Dec. 3 (EMN): Programmes commemorating International Day for differently-able Persons have been organised at various parts of the state.
Manipur Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo attended the state-level observation in Imphal on Saturday. A similar function was also held at DRDA Hall in Ukhrul district headquarters organised by the district administration in collaboration with District Social Welfare officer, District Disability Rehabilitation Centre and Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development Rehabilitation Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Imphal (CRCSRE).
Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district, Krishna Kumar attended the function as the chief guest in the presence of District Social Welfare Officer Kanghujam Nongpoknganba Salaicha and Nodal Officer DDRC Yuman Dhanbir Sing, who were functional president and the guest of honour respectively.
Altogether, 50 differently-able persons were distributed aid and appliances like wheelchair, walking stick, hearing aid, cluster elbow and blankets.
Krishna Kumar encouraged the differently-able persons in the district to avail different schemes provided to them by the Centre and state has. He said the district administration was also striving to reach out to them through different mechanisms. Meanwhile he also encouraged them to get registered in the electoral roll under ‘persons with disability’ and avail special facilities.
