Diphu, Dec. 3 (EMN): A public interaction with the villagers of Tipali under Amri Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), West Karbi Anglong was organised by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) here on Saturday, to listen to their grievances and requirements.

Tipali is one of the remotest villages under the Amri MAC constituency, which is very close to the Meghalaya border. The area is still devoid of basic amenities such as electricity.

There is no community hall, health centre, potable water and road connectivity. The only school — St. Dominic Savio LP School — is run by Don Bosco HS School, Umswai.

Local MAC of Amri and Executive Member (EM), KAAC, D Uphing Maslai shared about the issues of the area. The EM told that there are unexplored waterfalls and tourist destinations, but there is encroachment from Meghalaya side. A road has been constructed by them at Tipali.

The villagers of Tipali and its adjoining villages have to go to Umswai to vote as there is no polling station. The villagers have to walk for 27 km from Tipali to reach Umswai.

Names from every household have been collected by APDCL and though household connections are yet to be done, bills have already been sent to the households from March, it was informed.

The people of Amri are trying to put it on the tourist map.

MP, Horensing Bey said from the MPLAD scheme, they will construct an open stage and village playground at Tipali with an amount of INR 7.5 lakh for each scheme.

MLA of Baithalangso, Rupsing Teron asked villagers of both Meghalaya and Karbi Anglong to respect each other’s territory, so that misunderstandings are not. He also urged the Khasis to stop the felling of trees inside Karbi Anglong forest and disturb the flora and fauna of the land.

Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said, “We have come here not to beg votes as an election is over. But we have come to you to know your grievances and requirements. I see thatch houses and I announce INR 5000 and three bundles of tins will be given to each family for construction of houses.”

“I also announce that solar lights and community fishery from the Fishery department will be made. By next March 2023, a school building will be constructed. With discussion with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and through state funds, a road will be constructed to Tipali.

“I will discuss with the appropriate authority for setting up polling stations for the Parliamentary and Assembly election. There are 75 houses and each house will be provided with horticulture plants (nursery) including goat proof fencing for protection of horticulture plants from goats and cattle.

“Team Karbi Anglong will continue its efforts in providing all-around development to the people,” the CEM said.

The villagers of Tipali submitted a memorandum to the Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang for the completion of electricity connection from Wanpali to Tipali comprising Tipali, Umseter, Padengdalai and Tarikhunji villages.

The villagers also submitted scheme proposals for construction of border road from Umswai to Amur Falcon bird visit site via Tikrum, Tipali and Umseter; construction of road from Umat Mushalding road to Tipali via Patengtali; construction of RCC bridge at Tipali village over Umhi river; construction of public fishery under Amrit Sarovar scheme at Tipali and construction of school building, medical sub-center, Jal Jivan Mission, village playground and open stage, electricity connection, mobile tower and polling station at Tipali.
