Dr. Shürhozelie inaugurates trade centre in Kohima

Kohima, Nov. 26 (EMN): Chairman of Nagaland Cooperative Society (NCS) and former Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, formally inaugurated the Kohima Trade Centre (KTC) and The Guardian (hotel and restaurant) at Old BOC, Poterlane, in Kohima on Saturday evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Liezietsu recounted how they formed the society since 1945 when the Naga Hills District was under the Assam province of British India.

He stated that the society was formed with the objectives to look into the welfare of other members.

Liezietsu informed that prior to the setting up of Kohima Trade Centre, they have established a hotel and restaurant at Old NST. He added that they are planning to come up with other project at Razhü Point area in the capital city.

He expressed happiness that youngsters like Vimhalie Pienyü and Keviselhou Sekhose, managing directors of Kohima Trade Centre, have come up to take entrepreneurship gradually.

Rev. Keduokienyü Dzüvichü, pastor of BRC, Kohima, offered the dedicatory prayer.

Vimhalie Pienyü, informed that along with his friend, Keviselhou Sekhose, they have ventured out after winning the tender to run the commercial building after a fair competition process was conducted between different entrepreneurs following an advertisement on newspaper issued by NCS.

Given the current scenario of huge unemployment rate and the markets being dominated by non-Nagas in their land, he apprised that they have given opportunity to local entrepreneurs to rent the facilities at the commercial complex for operating their business activities.

It was informed that already there are 80% Naga entrepreneurs in their establishment.

Pienyü apprised how they have taken care of the interior parts of the building after the structure was constructed by NCS.

There are five floors in the building with each of them having a unique structure.

The facility consists of a wet market in the basement, while multi items such as electronics, electoral appliances, cosmetics, footwear, traditional ornaments, etc. are available on the ground floor.

The first floor is exclusively for first-hand garments, which would consists of goods including those from India, Thailan,d and China. The second floor has been made a second-hand hub, while The Guardian (hotel and restaurant) is located on the third floor.

On the other hand, the hotel has 12 rooms including deluxe, twin, double and single bedded rooms.

It was informed that the majority of the employees managing The Guardian are also local youth.

Earlier, Rev. Keduokienyü Dzüvichü, pastor of BRC, Kohima, offered the dedicatory prayer.
