Students told to foster unity in Naga society

Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): Nagaland Inspector General of Police (Range), Limasunep Jamir, has asked the students to work and understand the important of building relationships and identity.
He was speaking on the 3rd day of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet on Wednesday at Sakus Mission College, Dimapur.
Sharing during the beat contest, Jamir said the programme will bring everyone together and advised the students to celebrate in the right way and manner. He also expressed happiness to see many people coming together to celebrate oneness.
Narrating the history of ANCSU, he said that the union was formed in 1979 to protect the rights and interest as well as the aspirations of the colleges and universities. He said that objective of union was basically to address the rights of the students and various social issues.
He opined that the meet was also to reflect upon oneself and put more strength and humility in the days to come. He said that ANCSU has been the backbone of Naga society.
“Until we have our own conviction, we will not be able to achieve anything. So let us take example from the achievers and be aspired,” he said.
Stating that Nagas are second to none in many ways, he called upon the students to guard against divisions in the society and foster unity.
It was informed that seven colleges namely Fazl Ali College, Kohima Science College, St. John College, Mount Mary College, Baptist College, Dimapur Government College and Patkai Christian College will be competing in the beat contest. The winner will receive an amount of INR 10,000 and the runners up INR 5,000.
The judges for the competition are Mhathung Odyuo, Atsa Long Roths, Wabong Ozukum and Tolu Chishi.
