Nagaland: Health dept. confers award to senior dental surgeons
Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): Department of Health and Family Welfare conferred award to two senior dental surgeons during a seminar-cum-training for dental suregeons organised under the National Health Mission (NHM) and National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) on October 7 at IDSP conference hall in Kohima.
AN update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Kohima, stated that the principal director of Health department, Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, awarded Dr. N Moa Jamir, senior dental surgeon at District Hospital, Kiphire, in recognition of his sincere service beyond the call of duty. It stated that the department has decided to award him the Principal Director Commendation Certificate for the year 2021-2022. Dr. Kinimi also awarded Dr. Sabino Kuotso, senior dental surgeon at District Hospital, Peren, in acknowledging her achievement as the first female dental surgeon of Nagaland.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kinimi appreciated the dental doctors coming from near and far and giving importance to the profession. He mentioned that dental is equally important with other health sciences.
The inaugural function was chaired by Dr. Meribeni Odyuo, joint director of dental and SPO (NOHP).
The topics covered included ‘Medical emergencies in dental OPD,’ ‘Oral cancer screening,’ and ‘Orthodontics: an overview and management of childhood dental diseases.’
The resource persons were Dr. Nichukholie Vupru, senior dental surgeon at District Hospital, Phek; Dr. Sentirenla R Jamir, junior dental surgeon at IMDH Mokokchung; Dr. Keneisenuo Kire, dental surgeon at 32 Dental Clinic, Kohima; and Dr. Imyangluba, dental surgeon at Advance Dental Clinic, Kohima.
