‘Pochury Black Day’ memorial cup kicks off

Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): The 9th edition of Pochury Black Day Memorial Cup organised by the Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) kicked off on Friday at Meluri town local ground, with president of Pochury Hoho, Chonpa Jurry, as the special guest.

PSU in an update informed that in the first match, Immortals FC beat United Brothers Club 3 – 1 and in the second match Shining Star edged past Shilloi Sporting Club 2 – 1.

The tournament is held every year to commemorate ‘Pochury Black Day’ and also “with the vision to preserve, protect and promote our unique identity and to spread the importance of our history (through sports) in which our forefathers had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Naga Nation,” it stated.

PSU further stated that the tournament is organised “to transform football in our locality by creating a platform and opportunity to our youths to develop their talent and skills in sports.”

Saturday’s match fixture

  1. Wieküzü FC vs. Jeichüghu FC Phor (8 am)
  2. St. Xavier FC vs. United Brothers Club (9:40 am)
  3. Shilloi Sporting Club vs. Lephori (1pm)
  4. Khumiasü FC vs. Wieküzü FC (2:40 pm)
