Mokokchung, Sep. 22 (EMN): The Ao Senden has granted twenty days grace period to the NHIDCL and contractor (Tritend Enterprise) after they failed to meet the September 20 deadline set by the Senden to restore the NH-702 (D) Mariani – Mokokchung road.
This was announced during a press conference held on Thursday here at Ao Senden office, pertaining to NH-702 (D) and the ultimatum served by the Ao Senden to the NHIDCL and the construction company overseeing the highway.
President, Ao Senden, Chubawati Longchar, informed that the Senden had served an ultimatum to Trident Company on September 12 to immediately restore the NH-702 (D) Mariani-Mokokchung road and make the same pliable by September 20.
“We have visited the site three times since we served the ultimatum and we have seen the condition of the road and the quality of the work. We have seen the work and it is not satisfactory at all,” Longchar said.
“As an apex organisation and a parent body, we have looked into the issues from all angles and came to an agreement to grant a grace period of twenty more days’ w.e.f. 22 September to 10 October, to the concerned authority to restore and make the road motorable,” he added.
Ao Senden also informed that it supports the order issued by DC Mokokchung restricting movement of heavy vehicles carrying more than 20 tons and 10-wheeled trucks or above on the same road.
It also informed that the Senden has resolved not to allow sub-letting of contract works to other parties by the contract holder.
It further stated that the system of approving contracts to lowest tender bidder will not be entertained in Mokokchung district.
These decisions have been made so that the quality of the contract works are not compromised and better works are carried out, Ao Senden declared.
It further cautioned that after the expiry of the grace period, the Ao Senden will activate its own course of action if the demands are not fulfilled.
