Nagaland orders crack down on proxy teachers; action against officers not executing direction
Dimapur, Sep. 21 (EMN): In an effort to curb the practice of engaging proxy teachers, the department of School Education has directed all district education officers to conduct surprise checking at schools under their jurisdiction and ensure that no proxies are engaged by any staff.
In a notification issued on Wednesday, the department directed heads of all government schools functioning within Nagaland to display photographs of all teaching staff along with names affixed prominently in the school premises.
It said teachers serving under their establishments should not engage proxies against them under any circumstances, while all teachers/staff should sign in the attendance register in the same manner as they have appended their signature in the service book/joining report.
In addition to taking action against teachers found engaging proxies, disciplinary action will also be initiated against the concerned school heads and district education officers for violation of the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968, it said.
