North East Students’ Organisation urges Southern Angami Public Organisation to lift indefinite bandh

Imphal, March 29 (EMN): The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) has expressed serious concern over the situation arising out of the indefinite bandh imposed by the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) along its jurisdiction on Dimapur-Imphal highway, the lifeline of Manipur and the adjoining areas, since March 23.

NESO, which is a conglomeration of eight major student bodies from seven north-eastern states, has appealed to SAPO to reconsider its ongoing bandh and lift it at the earliest in the interest of the innocent general public. It also urged the All Assam Manipuri Youths’ Association (AAMYA) to suspend its counter bandh.

Stating that the indefinite bandh has greatly affected the lives and the livelihood of the innocent people, NESO said it has always maintained that people-to-people dialogue should be encouraged to ensure that people do not suffer.

It also urged the government of India to take pro active steps to control the situation from further deterioration and solve the issue amicably by bringing all the parties involved to the negotiating table.

SAPO has imposed indefinite bandh over failure of Manipur government to withdraw its armed personnel from Kezoltsa area.
