Rising People’s Party asks Nagaland govt. to cancel departmental recruitment drive

Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has raised objections to the Technical Education department’s ongoing recruitment drive, saying that it can’t conduct a parallel exam to fill posts like “lecturers and demonstrators” which fall within the purview of the NPSC.

In a press release, the party stated that the department should cancel its recruitment process. It also said thar candidates, who are taking the “so-called interview” from February 7 to the 9th for the 27 posts advertised for recruitment by the Technical Education department, would do so at their own risk.

“For the not-so-politically connected candidates, the advice of the RPP is that by appearing for the interview they are simply wasting their time, money and energy (sic),” read the press release.

The party stated that it had written a letter to the Technical Education department to revoke its notification for recruitment of 27 posts — 16 lecturers, eight demonstrator and three multi taking staff (MTS) – within seven days on the ground that 21 of these posts fall within the purview of NPSC recruitment process.

In its reply dated February 1, 2022, the Technical Education department clarified, by furnishing documentary evidence, that all the advertised posts for 25 lecturers and 18 demonstrators were initially requisitioned to the NPSC for recruitment in September and October last year. It added that it went ahead with the ‘temporary’ recruitment process following inaction from the NPSC.

However, the RPP said that the department can’t fill up posts that fall within the purview of NPSC.

“It’s an open knowledge that all departmental recruitment processes are farcical with the candidates already selected beforehand, and the conduct of written and interview tests are mere formalities to present the picture of ‘fair’ recruitment,” it stated.

Citing the High Court granting permission to the NPSC to conduct exams and the preliminary exams for NCS/NPS already being conducted, the party said there is no justification for the department to conduct a parallel examination.

“The NPSC should also clarify publicly as to why 25 posts of lecturers and 18 posts of demonstrators were not advertised by the Commission. If it cannot conduct even the simple job of issuing advertisements, then there’s no reason for the Commission to exist,” the party stated.
